ABOUT

I’m a filmmaker. Born in Düsseldorf in 1983, where I have lived ever since.

And worked as a bicycle mechanic. Quit school early. Started an apprenticeship as a tiler. Quit the apprenticeship as a tiler. Worked as a removal man; and as bartender.

Picked up school again. Painted pictures. Became an artist.

Took a job at a local hairdresser. Built video installations.

Did exhibitions and was commissioned to do graffiti.

Did an internship in theatre design at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus.

Trained to become a certified kindergartner. Met the wife. Started slaving away on the building site again. Then again as barkeeper. Then as a bike courier.

And on the sets for photo productions. Produced the first short movies, soliciting my first customers. Got my a-levels. Went to university.

Studied biology and became a father.

Started studying sociology instead. Became a cutter on campus.

Learned how to do motion graphics. Animation. Properly work a camera.

Did more and more films. Some good ones. Some really good ones.

Helped others to get their degrees, working as data analyst.

Cut, animated, graded more and more videos. Helped my own shootings materialise.

Made my university degree.

Been there, done it, got the t-shirts,

only to find that all I ever really wanted was making movies.

So, let’s start. Let’s do great things that look and above all – that feel right.

Cheers, Martin.
